The story
Twelve fishing families in Barangay San Roque, Southern Leyte lost their homes when the typhoon made landfall last December. Eight months later they are still living in tents and borrowed spaces near the shoreline.
Working with the barangay council and a local carpenters' cooperative, we can rebuild one typhoon-resilient core home — concrete footing, coco lumber frame, amakan walls, and a GI-sheet roof — for ₱45,000 in materials. The families and neighbors provide the labor, bayanihan style.
Every ₱45,000 raised is one family out of a tent and back under their own roof before the next storm season.
